In our final entry of 5 Perfect Days: The Telluride Leadership Summit Journey, we reach the pinnacle of our time together. Welcome to Day 4.
Tuesday, Oct 6: The Closing Day
7:45 AM | Morning Mindfulness: The breakfast bell rings, but you’ve already beaten your alarm. You stand outside, taking in a crisp mountain sunrise—a new daily ritual you’ve come to love. As you breathe in the fresh alpine air, you realize you’ve fully acclimated to the elevation. You feel grounded, sharp, and ready. Over breakfast, everyone is buzzing about yesterday’s transformative trailheads and anticipating this morning’s kickoff panel.
9:00 AM | The Guides: Navigating Uncertainty: This panel is extraordinary. You listen to seasoned mountain guides discuss how they lead others through intense uncertainty and rapidly changing conditions. Because you were on the trails with them just yesterday, their insights hit home with profound depth. You jot down two or three actionable takeaways to immediately apply to your team back home.
10:00 AM – 12:15 PM | Deep-Dive Learning Labs: You carry that morning momentum into two back-to-back concurrent learning sessions. Your options?
• Self-Management Through Burnout with Isa Gucciardi, Founding Director, Sacred Stream.
• The Power of Storytelling in Cultivating Ownership with Ryan Walsh, Chief Strategy Officer and Channel Chief, Pax8.
• Organizational Transformation Best Practices with Susan Relland, President of Operations, APL.
Bring your curiosity and a notebook. This morning is designed to stretch your perspective.
12:15 PM – 2:30 PM | Sustenance & Integration: You’ve earned a pause. This extended afternoon window is intentional, giving you space to digest the morning’s depth. Take a power nap after a great lunch, check in with the office, or sit by the river for some quiet reflection. Whatever restores you, do that.
2:30 PM | Grit, Growth, and Inspiration: We dive back in with another round of exceptional learning labs:
• The Story of Grit: Hear the entrepreneurial journey of Telluride’s own Coffee Cowboy. Learn how founders Hailey and Scott are defying the odds and local skeptics to build one of the coolest businesses in town. It’s a masterclass in determination that will leave you reflecting on your own leadership roots.
• Building a Culture: Join Michael Burchell in exploring the foundational building blocks and intentional strategies required to lead a certified Great Place to Work.
Either way, expect creative sparks to fly.
3:30 PM | Closing Keynote: Leading Performance We’re wrapping up on a high note—literally. Featuring a live and immersive workshop conceived by me (yes, me Hal) and delivered by me and the wonderful Telluride Choral Society. This immersive keynote uses the choir-and-conductor relationship as a powerful metaphor for modern organizational leadership. You’ll see executive presence, true collaboration, and leadership vulnerability come to life right before your eyes.
6:30 PM | Celebration & Connection: What a journey it has been. Yesterday’s blend of outdoor adventure and indoor reflection perfectly prepared you for today’s deep learning. After a quick refresh in your room, head down for the closing reception and dinner. Enjoy an evening of incredible food, rich conversation, and new lifelong connections before heading to bed.
Wednesday, Oct 7: The Journey Home
Day 5: The Farewell: You’re heading home today, but not before one last sunrise ride on the Gondola. The Coffee Cowboy calls your name one last time, and you take your drink to go. You enjoy one final stroll down Main Street, pause on a bench to look at the waterfalls and golden aspens, and say, “So long, Telluride. See you next year.”
The Telluride Leadership Summit isn’t just a conference—it’s a transformative experience for your mind, your spirit, and your career. Spaces are filling fast.
Yours on the journey,
Hal and the Telluride Leadership Summit Team
