Hal is a certified coach and mindfulness expert with extensive leadership and management experience in Fortune 500 companies, start-up consulting firms and midsize companies. Previously, Hal served as President of Great Place to Work® Institute, the global research and consulting firm best known for creating the gold standard in workplace recognition, the annual FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For, a list that is considered the gold standard in workplace recognition.

After leaving the Great Place to Work® Institute, Hal set out to understand the underlying principles that informed the leadership of great workplaces, where people experience trust, pride, and a supportive, enjoyable work environment.

Hal’s research identified five common characteristics of great leaders in every sector. These Five Attributes of Great Leaders include self-awareness, bravery, kindness, innovation, and inspiration. Hal built Leadership Landing on the belief that leaders who exhibit these five attributes can affect powerful change in themselves and in their organizations. Leadership Landing’s unique, mindfulness-driven coaching practice leverages Hal’s vast experience in mindfulness, employee feedback, and executive coaching to help leaders pinpoint and overcome barriers to transforming their workplaces.

Education/Certification:

Hal has an undergraduate degree in music from SUNY Purchase NYC and has done graduate work at the Boston Conservatory focused on music theory and conducting. Hal also has professional training in Buddhist psychology and advanced meditation. Hal is a certified coach for the Zenger Folkman Extraordinary Leader 360 Assessment and is an adjunct consultant with Great Place to Work ® Institute.
